Well, the nearest NGV station is in Terengganu. This NGV, the taxi drivers call “gas” to fuel their taxis can save Kuantan Taxi drivers up to at least 50% of their operating costs.
They complained that their proposal to have a “gas” station here in Kuantan have not been taken seriously and fell on deaf ears of the authorities.
It has been years since the first proposal were mentioned.
It is unclear why the local government and the relevant authority have not serviced or helped the taxi drivers to have access to “gas” for their taxis. The huge costs of setting up “a gas station” was cited as one of the possible discouraging factors. It is of course a strange reason as other parts of the country particularly Malaysian cities (Kuantan is said to become a city soon) have already at least one “gas station”.
The delay of the implementation of such useful station burdens taxi drivers in high operating costs and high taxi fares for consumers.
